Our recycling facility in Sevilla, Spain now carries a Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB ) certification, demonstrating its important role in the circular economy by transforming end-of-life plastics into recycled oils that can be used to make virgin-quality plastics, thus reducing the need for fossil resources.<\/p>\n

Rolf Hogan, Executive Director of RSB commented, “We are extremely pleased to welcome Plastic Energy’s new RSB certification. As the first end-of-life plastic chemical recycler certified to RSB’s stringent sustainability requirements, they are truly leading the way in demonstrating that chemical recycling can be done sustainably – contributing to the circular economy and reducing consumption of fossil resources. Carrying an RSB certificate shows that Plastic Energy have joined an elite group of operators who are going above and beyond to not only ‘do no harm’ but to actively create positive impacts.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Plastic Energy\u2019s recycling plant in Sevilla has been in operation since 2017 and has a processing capacity of 5,000 tonnes of plastic waste per annum.<\/p>\n

Joaqu\u00edn Pineda, Permitting and Certification Manager at Plastic Energy said, \u201cWe are proud to add RSB certification to our list of accreditations, as we continue to prioritise sustainability in our operations and process. Obtaining RSB certification requires meeting a series of rigorous sustainability standards, and we are pleased to have achieved this for our plant in Sevilla.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

RSB certification is a further step in Plastic Energy\u2019s commitment to reducing the depletion of fossil resources and recycling end-of-life plastics that would otherwise be destined for landfill or incineration.<\/p>\n
